TILE GROUT CARE & SEALING ADVISE
Tile is becoming very popular because of the ease in which it can be cleaned provided some basic steps are followed. Your tile grout should be sealed with a impenetrable tile grout sealer, this will prevent anything spilled from becoming a permanent stain. Remember that grout and some tiles are very porous so you don't want to have a permanent stain.
TILE GROUT CLEANING CARE - What grout cleaner to use
Dry soil removal is essential, dry soil will wear down your tile. Use only a neutral cleaner (neutral on the PH scale), a good example is Simple Green. You can also find neutral floor cleaners in either Home Depot or Lowe's, Johnson Wax or Zep are both good products. Follow the instructions on the bottle. Some bad examples are Mr. Clean, Spic and Span and anything high in alkaline. Rinse well as just smearing the dirt around with a mop is not cleaning, that is smearing. Any questions feel free to call Son Bright.
Basic Steps For Routine Tile Grout Cleaning
- Vacuum, don't sweep or use a Swiffer as this will only push the soil into the tile grout joints.
- Mop using a neutral floor cleaner and warm CLEAN water! It is important that you change the water once it becomes dirty or you will just be smearing the soil around and making things worse. You can pick up a good mop bucket and ringer as well as a neutral floor cleaner at either Home Depot or Lowe's.
- Do not use any cleaner that is not neutral on the PH scale. Neutral is 7 on the PH scale, anything above or below this may affect the integrity of the grout sealer if any was applied.
- Call Son Bright when it is time again for a deep cleaning.
